Common Core Standards Released
Highly-Anticipated Academic Standards Released
The National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers recently released their Common Core State Standards, K-12 academic standards for the subject areas of English-language arts and mathematics. The standards offer a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn before high school graduation.
Forty-eight states have begun the adoption and implementation process. EPIC is aligning its formative assessment tool, C-PAS, to the Common Core State Standards.
Validation of Standards Reveals Broad Benefits
The Common Core State Standards Validation Committee this month released a report validating the process by which the Common Core State Standards were identified. The 25-member committee found the standards to be, “the result of processes that reflect best practices for standards development (3)."
EPIC founder and CEO, Dr. David T. Conley, co-chaired the committee, bringing EPIC’s experience with validity studies to the validation process.
